God's Greatest Gift for you - Salvation
Good News Baptist Church - Independent, Fundamental, Christ-Centered

SUNDAY SCHOOL: The Sunday School classes at Good News Baptist Church are designed to offer insight into God's Word that will be applicable to all areas of life.  The Bible is our textbook and our competent teachers use materials that are true to the Word of God. GNBC offers a number of adult classes from singles to seniors.

    • Ambassadors (Singles/College & Career)

    • Virtuous Women (Ladies)

    • Armor-Bearers (Men)

    • Young Marrieds (20s-30s)

    • Homebuilders (30s-40s)

    • Genesis Class (Basics for New Believers)

    • Friendship Class (40s-55)

    • Compassionate Hearts (Ladies)

    • Sunshine Class (55+)

SENIOR ADULT MINISTRY: The TRIPLE "L" CLUB (Living Longer and Loving it) is the name of our senior adult club.  It is a ministry involving those who are 55 years old and up.  Various activities are planned for our senior saints, including trips to historic sites, parks, museums, shopping, and annual autumn leaf color changing.  A monthly covered dish luncheon is held in our Fellowship Hall where everyone enjoys food, fun and fellowship.

MOMMY AND ME:  This ministry is designed to encourage and meet the fellowship needs of mothers with preschool children. The Mommy and Me fellowship/play group meets the second Tuesday morning of every month. Each month, moms and their toddlers visit a new and fun place such as the Portsmouth Children's Museum, Blue Bird Gap Farm, McDonalds Playplace, Chuck E.Cheese and various parks.

LADIES FELLOWSHIP: Our ladies meet once a month to provide a variety of activities for all ladies at GNBC. It is called a "fellowship" because it is a means for our ladies to get better acquainted by interacting in activities and projects that build the home and Christian life.

MISSIONS PROGRAM: Because we believe God has given the Great Commission to the local church to evangelize the world, we maintain an aggressive missions program. GNBC supports more than 40 missionary works worldwide. Our missionary program is supported by the Faith Promise of our people, given each year at our annual missionary conference and received weekly. In 2000, the people of GNBC gave over $100,000 to missions.

MILITARY MINISTRY: Our Military Ministry is designed to meet the need for fellowship and spiritual development of members and friends who serve in the Armed Forces. Social and spiritual activities are planned just for active duty service members. A monthly pot luck meal is held in our Fellowship Hall followed by games, sharing, caring and devotions.

LIBRARY AND BOOKSTORE: Our church library allows anyone to check out books, video tapes and audio cassette tapes for growth in their Christian life. The Good News Book Store has Bibles, books, music, greeting cards and an assortment of other valuable tools for Christian living. The church library and book store are open before and after the evening services on Wednesday and Sunday.

NURSERY: Three nurseries are available during Sunday school and all worship services. These include birth to one year, one and two years, and three year olds. Trained and experienced workers staff our spacious and clean facilities enabling mothers to enjoy the services with the family. Also, a nursing mother's room is available in the nursery wing. A pager is issued to each mother enabling the nursery staff to summon her to the nursery in the event of an emergency
